(While conducting his most expansive schemes, Locke creates false identities in the same manner one creates characters for a play. They are so comprehensive they could easily stand alone as characters separate to Locke himself. Lukas Fehrwight is just one of these creations.)
Hometown: Emberlain, the Kingdom of Seven Marrows
Appearance: Fehrwight dons the heavy, dark garments typical of the north. His dark brown hair is slicked back into a refined style with rose oil and he wears optics rimmed with black pearl. He is of medium build and height; his posture is ramrod straight.
Background: The Vadran was sent by his masters at the House of Bel Auster to prevent the Austershalin brandy business from falling into ruin beneath the weight of the impending civil war that threatens the Kingdom of Seven Marrows. He is sent to Camorr to offer Don Jacobo a percentage of the Austershalin shares if he agrees to finance and aid the smuggling, storage and marketing of the remaining priceless brandy during the relapse.
Brief Description: Despite being a highly competent merchant, Fehrwight struggles to mask his nervous composure. His gracious nature often makes him appear somewhat flustered and his mannerisms are described as ‘nearly prissy’. Fehrwight is extremely loyal to his employers and evidently passionate about his work.
Quotes: ‘My name is Lukas Fehrwight. I am wearing clothes that will be full of sweat in several minutes. I am dumb enough to walk around Camorr without a blade of any sort. Also, I am entirely fictional.’
Extras: Locke created Fehrwight to trick the Salvara’s into granting him money. He purposely shaped Fehrwight’s character to be submissive and awkward, fooling the Salvara’s into thinking they possessed control of the situation; Fehrwight’s endearing, bumbling nervousness leaves little room for suspicion.Fehrwight is present through most of The Lies of Locke Lamora.
